Penang Food Excursion- Day 1

It all happened early last year and i had an idea of having a food excursion in Penang and Ipoh...and my family and i decided to have it on christmas eve... 24 Dec *Gosh !! Everybody knows christmas eve is 24 Dec larr*... We took off early morning... traveling up the North-South Highway... and stopped by Ipoh for a quick lunchieee.... And of coz trying the famous Ipoh Kopi... and 怡保牙菜鸡....

I didn get the chance to snap a photo of the chicken coz we are too desperate to indulge ourselves in it... therefore...no photo..T.T

A snap shot of some heritage shop houses in Ipoh...these are hard to find in developed cities nowadays....
.

After couple of hours driving.... finally...a view of the iconic Penang Bridge... which also cost me Rm7... $$$$$

We settled down in the hotel and of course... some camwhore and photo shooting session with sister....
okay !!! enough of that... for more camwhore photo... visit my facebook larr..... ^^

We start our food excursion with Indian Mee Goreng... somewhere along Burmah Road... we reached around 6 sth and the shop is almost closed... luckily.. Penangese are really nice people... we manage to dine in... The noodle is different from what i normally take in Mamak stalls... Noodles are gravy-ish and more to orange reddish colour.... something for a change thou... and itz more to sweet than salty... Good stuff...

After that... we went to 1 of the tourist attraction spot in Penang... Fort Cornwallis... Itz actually an old fort... *Slap... it says fort already.. neglect the second line* =.= i kinda skipped the story and history about it.. so i cant narrate much about it.... let the photo do the talking...

Sister posing for my photo ..

We left the fort and headed out into city center... and i spotted 1 thing... the roads in Penang are kinda narrow... *or im already used to wide highways in KL???* neways... it requires some skills to navigate through those tight corners and my dad surely did a great job....

A roadside stall selling Apong...

Garmin Nüvi saves the day again...* in this case... save the night..
We stop by a Char Kuey Tiaw stall along Campbell Street.... and its quite famous for their Special Char Kuey Tiaw.... added with mantis prawn... the best thing of it is that those Kuey Tiaw were CHAR-ed with charcoal... there's an earthy aroma to it... excellent !!!

I managed to snap a couple of photos of night view in Penang...

That practically wraps up our trip on Day 1.... i will post another entry about Day 2 in a short while.... stay tuned for more.....
